Leicester, built to order

Machines built by hand. Not by warehouse.

Every machine we sell is specified in conversation with the person who is going to use it, then built on the bench here in Leicester by one pair of hands. It is tested for a full day before it is packed, and it arrives with the parts list and the test results in the box.

The bench

One builder, one machine, start to finish.

A machine ordered from one of the big retailers is put together on a line by whoever is next on shift, from whatever was bought in bulk that quarter. We work the other way round. The conversation comes first, covering the games you play and the budget you have in mind, and from that we tell you where the money is best spent, including the places it is not worth spending at all. One builder then takes the machine from an empty case through to its first boot.

After that it goes on soak for a full twenty four hours of thermal and memory testing. Nothing is packed until it has come through that cleanly, and the printed results go in the box with the machine.

Why bespoke

Two spec sheets can matchand mean nothing at all.

Two machines can list the same components and still be nothing alike, because most of what separates them never appears on a spec sheet. This is what building yours by hand, on the bench in Leicester, changes about it.

A Fosse build

Built for you

  • Every component chosen around the games you play, and named in full on the invoice
  • Cabling routed by hand behind the tray, and photographed before the machine ships
  • A twenty four hour stress test on the bench before anything leaves the workshop
  • Built, upgraded and repaired in Leicester by the same people who assembled it
  • An 18 month warranty you can extend, with any repair carried out here
  • Standard components throughout, so the upgrade path stays open to you

A boxed prebuild

Built to a price

  • Whichever components reached the right price that week, rarely listed in full
  • Cabling zip tied out of sight, with airflow left to chance
  • Boxed straight off a production line, powered on once if at all
  • Support that means a call centre, a returns label and a queue
  • The whole machine sent away, and several weeks before you see it again
  • A proprietary board and power supply that quietly close off later upgrades

Pick a starting point, then change everything.

Four routes in. Each one is a real, tested configuration, and every part of it can be swapped before you pay a penny.

A first machine that has been thought about properly. It holds high settings at 1080p comfortably, and it sits on a platform with enough headroom to take a larger graphics card in a year or two without starting again.

    How it happens

From a conversationto a machine on your desk.

There is rather more to it than a basket and a courier. Every machine we build goes through the same six stages, and you can see which one yours has reached at any point.

    1. 01

      The conversation

We start by talking through the games you play, the budget you have in mind, and what the machine needs to do beyond gaming. It is a conversation rather than a sales call, and we keep the jargon out of it.

    2. 02

      The spec

Every component is then chosen against that brief and priced openly, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and the reasoning behind each choice.

    3. 03

      The build

The machine is assembled by hand on our bench in Leicester. Cabling is routed behind the tray as it should be, and the inside is photographed before the side panel goes back on.

    4. 04

      The soak test

It then runs for twenty four hours under load, testing the processor, graphics and memory together. Anything that is going to fail early tends to fail here, in the workshop, rather than at your desk.

    5. 05

      To your door

The machine arrives set up and ready to play. If you would rather collect it, we will walk you through the build on the bench before you take it away.

    6. 06

      For the long run

You have an 18 month warranty with the option to extend it, repairs handled here by the people who built the machine, and advice on upgrades for as long as you own it.

    Inside a Fosse build

The details youare meant to see.

There is a reason a boxed machine keeps its side panel opaque. We photograph the inside of every build before it ships, because half the work sits behind that window.

Processors, a graphics card and a water block laid out on the bench
The spec Every component chosen on its merits
A builder fitting components on the workbench
The build Assembled and tested on our bench
The inside of a finished build with RGB fans and tidy cabling
The finish Cooling and cable work done properly

    Learn to build

    Rather do ityourself?

Our build guide is the same one our own apprentices learn from. It runs to ninety pages, photographed on the bench rather than illustrated, and covers choosing components, working safely around static, routing cables, the first boot, and what to do on the morning it refuses to post.

It is £10 printed and posted. Alternatively, bring your parts in and we will run the build alongside you on a Saturday morning.

I asked for a machine for one specific game, and gave them a budget. What came back was three options, each one with the reasoning written out beside it, and a note explaining why the middle one was the sensible choice.

I went in asking for the most expensive machine on the page. They asked me what I played instead, and then sold me something cheaper that turned out to be better.

Quiet, cool, and genuinely tidy inside when I finally opened it up to add a drive. You can tell that one person built the whole machine rather than six people each doing a bit of it.

    Questions

    The things peoplealways ask.

    What warranty do I get?

Every machine carries an 18 month warranty on parts and labour, and you can extend it when you order. In the first twelve months we collect and return a faulty machine at our cost.

How long does a build take?

Usually within three working days from order to your doorstep, though it depends on the specification and on every part being in stock. If a part is on back order we tell you before taking a deposit, and you can cancel for a full refund at that point.

    Can I extend the warranty?

You can. The standard cover is 18 months on parts and labour, and we will quote you to extend it at the point of order. Repairs are done here by the people who built the machine, not sent away to a third party.

Can I change the parts in a pre-build?

Every part of every machine can be swapped in the configurator before you pay. The pre-builds are just a sensible starting point.

Will my games run well on it?

We spec each build around what you actually play and the screen you play on, and the configurator shows an estimated frame rate. We would rather sell you the right machine than the dearest one.

Do you fix machines you did not build?

We do. Diagnosis is free, we tell you the cost before any work, and if a repair is not worth the money we will say so.
